I just did an extention to close in the breezeway which gave me a 19x13 gourmet kitchen with all the bells and whistles it is beautiful. My problem is that the house is still too small. we need another room like a family room. the back yard is beautiful with a deck and patio, so we can't build out. we have to go up. is there a way to go up and keep the front facade the same by just raising the roof pitch and creating a saltbox effect on the rear of the home? I would like to put 2 or 3 bedrooms up there with 1 or 2 baths. this would be in the old part of the house.
