I've recently placed an offer on an older home (built 1885) that is solid, but needs improvements such as new furnace/CA, siding, shingles, windows and carpet. I don't have any equity, obviously, but just heard about a program through FHA called the Section 203(k) loan. Can anyone tell me the advantages/disadvantages of this type of loan and what hurdles I'll need to overcome if I want to pursue getting one?
