This calculator allows you to quickly determine the square feet in one or more rooms and then calculate how many resilient tiles, such as vinyl or urethane, you will need to cover the selected area.

Individual tiles are commonly 12 inches square, but also in 9-by-9-inch or 6-by-6-inch sizes. Tiles are sold by the box, with the number of tiles enclosed and the number of square feet they will cover listed on the box.

Tips on Measuring for Resilient Tile

Enter the size of the rooms to be covered and then select the size of the tile you plan to use. The calculator will determine how many tiles you need, including a standard 10 percent waste allowance.
