ImproveNet Affiliate Program Frequently Asked Questions
Joining the Affiliate Partner Program
What is the Affiliate Partner Program?
Our Affiliate Partner Program allows you to place links to ImproveNet on your website. By placing these links, visitors to your site have the opportunity to access thousands of pages of home improvement content and our free contractor matching service. If a Referral from your site submits a project, we pay you a commission!
Why should I join?
As an Affiliate, you will add the value of our free contractor, designer, and architect matching service to your site, gain site "stickiness" through our extensive home improvement content, and make money on the business you send our way, all with very little effort on your part!
Does it cost me anything to become an Affiliate?
No! It's absolutely free to join our Affiliate Program. There is no charge to apply and there is no minimum Referral requirement.
Can a website outside the United States be an Affiliate?
Yes. We welcome Affiliates from anywhere in the world; however, currently we can only fulfill project requests in the United States. Still, international Affiliates can take advantage of offering our extensive content to their visitors!
I operate more than one website. Can I still be an Affiliate?
Yes, you can have multiple sites as an Affiliate. You can have one Affiliate account with us that will include all of your sites. You can track the progress of each of your sites separately and be paid with one aggregate commission check.
How do I sign up?
First, you must read and accept our Affiliate Partner Program Operating Agreement . Then, complete our online application form. After your application is submitted, we will contact you to let you know if you've been accepted as an Affiliate. We will provide you with information on how to get started at that time.
How does the program work?
Our Affiliate Program allows you to make money by offering our services to your site's visitors. You do this by placing links to ImproveNet's Find a Contractor, Find a Designer, and Find an Architect services on your site. Every time a visitor comes from your site to ours (a Referral) and submits a home improvement project, known as a "Real Job," you earn a commission!
A "Real Job" is a project for which an interest request has been submitted to ImproveNet's network of screened contractors after all required and necessary information is collected from the Referral. Tests and other nonqualifying jobs-those falling below ImproveNet's minimum budget threshold (as determined by ImproveNet from time to time and currently set at $500) or those not pertaining to a trade for which ImproveNet provides active matching-will not be eligible for commission payment. In each calendar quarter that you have earned more than $50, we send you a check! If your commission does not reach $50 in the calendar quarter, it will roll over into the new quarter. It's that easy!
Is my website eligible to become an Affiliate?
Most sites will qualify to participate in the program. Anyone may submit an application, but we do reserve the right to refuse membership to a site or revoke a site's membership at any time if we deem that it contains objectionable material.
What are my responsibilities an as Affiliate?
The only thing you are responsible for is using the tag generator on www.Reporting.net to create and place links on your site. (Our Affiliate Program is managed by Be Free, which offers a tag generator and online reporting at www.Reporting.net.) We handle everything else!
What are ImproveNet's responsibilities?
We will provide you with the tools and support you need to maximize sales through your site. We also handle the project matching and related customer service and support for all customers you refer to us.
I don't have a website. Can I still apply?
Unfortunately, no. In order for us to accept you as an Affiliate, we must be able to view your website.
How do I change my account information?
Once you have been accepted as an Affiliate, you will be given access to the www.Reporting.net website. Your account information can be modified through www.Reporting.net.
Will becoming an Affiliate increase traffic to my site?
Our Affiliate Program is a revenue-sharing program. It is not designed to help you increase traffic to your site; however, it does enhance your site with content and our free service, so your user return rate may be higher.

Setting Up Links
How do I create links?
We have an automatic tag generator on Reporting.net that creates HTML tags that you cut and paste into your website. It is so easy to use, even beginners can create links in seconds. The tag generator allows you to create hundreds of types of links to our products.
Where should I place the links on my site?
You should place links where they are easy for your site visitors to find, such as on your home page. Some areas you may want to place your links include your home page, your navigation bar, and any other traffic areas. If you place the links in an easily accessible location on your site, your visitors will be more likely to submit a home improvement project.
How often should I update my links?
You should update links to our content and services frequently. We are constantly refreshing content, so you should create new links that fit the interests of your visitors. For maximum commissions, always include a link to our Find a Contractor page!

Tracking, Reporting, and Payment
How much can I earn?
Unfortunately, we can't predict how much you will earn from our Affiliate Program because we are not familiar with your website or your visitors.
How do I know how much commission I've earned?
Through Reporting.net, you can access reports (updated daily) that provide information on impressions, click throughs, project requests, and commissions earned.
How often do I get paid?
We will send you a check for commissions earned by the last day of the month following the end of every calendar quarter, provided you earned more than $50. Commissions earned that are less than $50 will roll over into the next calendar quarter.
Do I earn commissions on my own project submissions?
Yes. When you submit a home improvement project through your website, you earn the same commission that you would from a visitor submission.
Who processes projects and handles customer service?
We do all of that for any customers you refer to our site. All you have to do is place links on your site. We do the rest!
How will you know that the projects came from my site?
All links from your site to our site contain a unique identifier so that every time a user comes to us via your site, we know to credit you when a project is submitted. This is only possible, though, when you create all of your links with the tag generator available on the Reporting.net website.
How often can I run reports?
You can run reports daily if you wish. Reporting.net, our reporting website, is updated daily with the latest information about your site.
I operate more than one website. Can you track them separately but pay me with one commission check?
Yes. You can have multiple sites under one Affiliate account. You can create links and generate reports specifically for each site, but you will receive one commission check for all of your sites. To set up an account with multiple sites, please contact us at affiliates@improvenet.com with the names and URLs of the additional sites.
