I, too, like the Insinkerator. The 777 is the quietest one that I've found. Although the mounting collar is typical to a number of different brands, it is the best type. I do not like the plastic collars that GE or Whirlaway use.
Very often when you replace this type of disposal you can reuse the existing collar, but you would have to be certain that the existing one was not leaking (which is often the case and the reason the unit failed). If you have a disposal you will need to save the cord off of it as the new disposal will not have one. It is important when you hook up the cord that you get the polarity right. If there is not a black and white wire, you will need to flatten the cord and follow the wide prong on the plug to the end of the cord. This will hook up to the white wire on the disposal. The ground will usually have a green coating. If not it will be the center wire in the jacket. The other wire will (obviously) be the black wire. It will be in line with the narrower prong on the cord.
Something that I often find when I change out disposals is that the drain piping is rotted to the point where it cannot be reused. (this is especially true with the chrome piping). If you have to replace any piping use the pvc type parts.

I hope that this helps.
