Helping you plan your home improvement project, from start to finish

Jacob Hurwith

Occupation: Writer

An active homeowner myself, I’m always on the lookout for the best home remodeling deals in town. Since 2013, I have been writing about home improvement costs and DIY projects homeowners shouldn’t be afraid to tackle. As a cost-conscientious person myself, this research doesn’t only help me save money, but provides more cost-saving solutions for our loyal ImproveNet readers. Beyond writing about home renovation costs and trends, I have interviewed contractors across the country, discussing everything from local trends, tips of the trade, how to work with a contractor, DIY pointers and much, much more. I use my research and interviews to not only write for ImproveNet, but to improve my Chicago condo. Prior to ImproveNet, I was the marketing coordinator at a non-profit marketing association in Chicago. Additionally, I worked at a real estate company for three years, seeing just how much work goes into managing a condo or apartment building. I graduated with a degree in journalism and business minor from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. When I’m not writing, you can find me at Home Depot trying to complete my next DIY project.
